This news hopefully kick starts Arsenal’s summer transfer window as according to a French newspaper L’Equipe are reporting that Arsenal are on the brink of signing Brazilian winger, who has been rated as one of the top young talents in the world, Bernard from Atletico Minerio.
The 20-year-old winger is expected to play for his club Atletico Mineiro in the Copa Libertadores on Wednesday night for the last time before flying to London on Thursday for a medical booked with The Gunners, the French newspaper claim.
The paper has also claimed and certified that Bernard is due to sign a deal with the north Londoners, which will keep him at the club till 2018 and is worth €3m per year. Bernard has five international caps for Brazil and was part of the team’s successful Confederations Cup campaign earlier this summer.
Bernard is a little boy with a growing reputation around the globe. The attacking midfielder who can adapt on flanks as well is just 5’4” in height but stands head and shoulders above his teammates in aspects of talent and promise. A creative player moving around allows him to exploit his great knack for one-two passing and classic tiki-taka football and has a superb and a sharp eye for goal, in short, this will make him work perfectly in the system which Wenger plays.
Signing Bernard would allow Wenger to rotate Cazorla with a younger but equally skillful player and will add quality and squad depth too which is important to challenge for the league title. Eventually, the prodigiously talented Bernard could even take over as Arsenal’s primary play-maker if he outshines the classic Cazorla.
